Hello Everyone,

It's the start of another really interesting season at your local Arts Society and we hope you enjoy the Programme of Lectures and Visits we have lined up for you.  Wander through our website pages to catch all the upcoming lectures and speakers, noting them in your diary.  By way of attracting Visitors further afield, we upload a poster each month onto Facebook directly targeting the Community Groups across our region who may not even know we exist.  This gives a brief overview of who we are and what we do.  It's updated each month to advertise a week beforehand the next forthcoming lecture so do look out for it.

We're a very friendly cohort enjoying a wide range of subjects in like minded company.  Our subjects cover a wide spectrum hopefully appealing to most so not all would you consider 'arty' but it's all about gaining knowledge and you're never too old to discover someting new!

So come along, give it a try, bring a friend, you can be sure of a very warm welcome.

"There are no strangers here, only friends you haven't yet met"        W B Yeats

Hoping to see you soon.

Our Next Lecture

The key focus of this lecture is on Bombay in the days of the Raj in the second half of the 19th century when this port was known as ‘The Gateway of India’. The building of the time created an extravagantly impressive collection of Gothic Revival civic buildings which this lecture will examine.

Our Next Lecture:

In AD 79 the city of Pompeii was devastated by the eruption of Vesuvius and was left until Charles III, Bourbon King of Naples, initiated excavation in 1748.  Mike Clegg will describe this work of excavation over the following centuries.
